Real Sociedad has announced a change in leadership, with Imanol Alguacil stepping down as manager after four seasons in charge. Alguacil, who joined the club in 2018, led the team to several notable achievements, including winning the Copa del Rey in 2020 and qualifying for European competitions for five consecutive seasons. He has decided not to renew his contract, which expires at the end of the current season.

The club has chosen to promote from within, appointing Sergio Francisco as the new manager. Francisco, who started his playing career at Real Sociedad, has been coaching the club's reserve and B teams since 2017. Prior to that, he managed Real Union in Spain's third division.
