Everton's goals from Illiman Ndiaye and James Garner were the difference-makers in the game.
Hurzeler said that despite creating numerous scoring opportunities, his team was not sharp enough in the final moments of the game.
"We had many big chances, but we didn't capitalize on them. If we had scored, the game would have been different," he explained.
The coach pointed out that his team struggled with defending their own goal and restarting play after losing possession.
"We have to work on being more ruthless in front of goal and improving our defensive mindset," Hurzeler said.
